Huawei’s AITO brand has officially launched updated versions of both the AITO M7 and AITO M8 on March 23, 2026. The M7 starts at ¥309,800 (approx. $42,700 USD) and the M8 at ¥369,800 (approx. $51,000 USD). Both receive the headline upgrade of the latest 896-line LiDAR — the same sensor system used in the flagship AITO M9 — plus stunning new body colors and interior options.

AITO M7: Night Purple + Obsidian Sport Package

The updated M7 follows Huawei’s “Kunpeng” design philosophy with clean, minimal lines. The new “Night Purple” color joins the lineup — a deep, shifting metallic purple that looks dramatically different under different lighting conditions. The signature “Star Ring Twin Wings” headlights feature dynamic welcome animations front and rear.

Dimensions: 5,080mm long, 1,999mm wide, 1,780mm tall, wheelbase 3,030mm — proper large SUV territory. An optional Obsidian Package adds blacked-out badges, window trim, body strips, mirror bases, roof rails, 21-inch sport wheels, and red brake calipers.

The M7 Pro+ variant with cabin LiDAR visual sensing will receive its Huawei Qiankun NCA smart driving system push update in April 2026.

AITO M8: Million-Pixel Projection Headlights + ISD Smart Tail Lights

The M8 receives two new colors: Auspicious Red and Azure Blue. Its headline hardware upgrade is the HUAWEI XPIXEL million-pixel projection headlights — capable of projecting a 100-inch giant image on walls or road surfaces. The smart beam dynamically adjusts width and length based on speed, steering input, and road conditions, actively guiding the driving path.

The M8 is larger: 5,190mm long, 1,999mm wide, 1,795mm tall, wheelbase 3,105mm. Its rear ISD Smart Interactive Tail Lights display different light patterns to communicate with following vehicles — a safety feature and a showpiece in one.

Interior: Triple Screens + 17.3-Inch Rear Screen

AITO M7 interior: Classic wraparound cockpit with 16.1-inch 3K center screen + 10.25-inch passenger screen + digital instrument cluster. The rear ceiling-mounted 17.3-inch entertainment screen serves second-row passengers. Four interior color options: Nebula Red, Morning Apricot, Chestnut Orange, and Truffle Brown.

AITO M8 interior: Three continuous screens — 12.3-inch instrument + 15.6-inch center + 16-inch passenger display — running HarmonyOS 4 smart cabin. The seamless triple-screen layout creates a genuinely cinematic front cabin environment.

Powertrain: Up to 1,690km Combined Range

AITO M7 EREV:

  • 1.5T range extender (160hp) + single motor (309hp) or dual motor (533hp)
  • Battery: 37kWh or 53.4kWh, EV range 208–327km
  • Combined CLTC range: up to 1,690km

AITO M7 BEV:

  • 100kWh battery, single (309hp) or dual (526hp) motor
  • BEV range: 635–710km CLTC

AITO M8 BEV:

  • 100kWh CATL NMC battery, RWD 227kW or AWD 387kW
  • BEV range: 705km (RWD) or 655km (AWD) CLTC

AITO M8 EREV:

  • 1.5T + dual motor (165kW front / 227kW rear)
  • Battery: 37kWh (201km EV) or 53.4kWh (310km EV)
  • Combined CLTC range: 1,405–1,526km

896-Line LiDAR Now Standard on Both Models

Both the M7 and M8 now ship with the 896-line flagship LiDAR sensor — previously only available on the top-spec M9. This is the same sensor found in the Zhijie R7 and Shangjie Z7, offering 4x resolution improvement for detecting small obstacles at long distances. Combined with Huawei Qiankun ADS, both vehicles support full-scenario highway and urban intelligent driving.

Why It Matters

The Toyota Alphard — the global benchmark for luxury MPVs — starts at around $50,000 in most markets, without LiDAR, without smart cabin AI, and with nowhere near 1,690km of combined driving range. The AITO M7 at $42,700 USD is not just a value proposition — it is a technology statement. Huawei is systematically deploying its best autonomous driving hardware across every price tier of its lineup, and that is a strategy no other automaker in the world is currently matching.
