The Seres Shangjie Z7 — the first mid-to-large electric sports sedan from SAIC’s partnership with Huawei — has officially opened pre-orders at ¥229,800 (approx. $31,700 USD). Every single unit comes fully loaded with 5 Huawei technologies as standard, including the latest ADS 4.1 autonomous driving system, the Kirin smart cabin, and an 896-line dual-path LiDAR. CLTC maximum range reaches 905km. This is one of the most technologically dense cars ever offered under $35,000 USD.

Exterior: Porsche-Rival Proportions in Electric Pink

The Shangjie Z7 is one of the most striking designs to come out of China in 2026. At 5,036mm long, 1,976mm wide, and only 1,465mm tall with a 3,000mm wheelbase, it has the proportions of a Porsche Taycan — wide, low, and long. The sculpted muscular side flanks, flush electric door handles, and functional front fender vents complete an exterior that looks like it costs twice as much.

The headlights deserve a special mention: 408 individual laser light points arranged in a split configuration at the corner of the front fascia, using a segmented lens optical architecture that creates a breathtaking “starfield” effect at night.

Ten body color options are available, several using a premium 5-coat 2-bake (5C2B) paint process for superior gloss and scratch resistance. Eight wheel designs are offered.

Interior: 4D Rotating Screen, Pet Window, Healthy Cabin

The cabin is oriented around youthful energy. Five interior color themes are available including Crimson Red, Flash Yellow, Purple Night, Flash Gold Black, and Sky Apricot. The centerpiece is the world-first “4D follow-rotating screen” — the central display can physically extend forward/backward and rotate left/right, automatically turning to face the driver on startup or rotating to greet passengers. Call “Xiao Yi” (Huawei’s voice assistant) and the screen swings to face you.

The passenger-side “Inspiration Window” is a secondary display showing adorable animated pet characters — a nod to the Gen Z buyer demographic that Shangjie is targeting. The dashboard shelf behind the window is lined with plush toy displays in the official promo shots.

The ALPS Healthy Cabin 2.0 system uses MOFs (Metal-Organic Framework) adsorption and decomposition materials to filter and purify cabin air. The Z7 also features the world’s first water-ion air conditioning system — it moisturizes, disinfects, and reduces allergens simultaneously. Boot space is cavernous: power hatch opens to 966mm height, max capacity 1,582L.

Powertrain: 905km CLTC, Huawei 800V Whale Battery

Two powertrain options:

  • Single motor RWD: 264kW (359hp)
  • Dual motor AWD: 434kW (590hp), 0-100km/h in 3.44 seconds

Battery options: 81kWh or 100kWh CATL NMC cells, on Huawei’s Whale 800V high-voltage platform. CLTC maximum range: 905km. Body structure: 91% high-strength steel and aluminum alloy, with 14 sections of 2,000MPa submarine-grade hot-stamped steel.

5 Huawei Technologies: All Standard, No Optionals

  1. Huawei Qiankun ADS 4.1 — autonomous driving, full-scenario urban and highway NOA
  2. 896-line dual-path imaging LiDAR — 4x resolution improvement over previous gen, detects 14cm obstacles at distance
  3. Huawei Tuling Platform — intelligent body coordination with DATS (Dynamic Adaptive Torque System)
  4. Huawei Whale 800V Battery Platform — ultra-fast charging architecture
  5. Huawei HarmonyOS Cabin 5 — full smart ecosystem, Xiao Yi voice AI, rotating 4D screen

Why It Matters: Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla Have a Problem

The Shangjie Z7 directly targets the Xiaomi SU7, Tesla Model 3, Xpeng P7, and Zeekr 001 — arguably the four most competitive performance sedans in China’s ¥200,000–¥300,000 bracket. What separates the Z7: every unit comes with Huawei’s most advanced autonomous driving stack as standard equipment — no optional upgrades, no tiers. At $31,700 USD for 905km range and a 590hp AWD option, this is a benchmark product for the segment globally.
