The updated Huawei Zhijie R7 officially launched on March 23, 2026 at ¥259,800 (approx. $35,800 USD) — bringing three major upgrades: new colors, new interior options, and the latest 896-line dual-path LiDAR. Deliveries kicked off simultaneously across seven cities in China. The R7 now competes directly against the Li Auto i6 and Xiaomi YU7 in the hottest segment of China’s EV market.

Exterior: Deep Forest Green + 0.219 Cd

The Zhijie R7’s sleek SUV-coupe silhouette in the new deep forest green is one of the most striking looks on the Chinese market today. The “All-in-One Star Orbit” integrated front light cluster contains 4 individual lenses, with a continuous LED DRL strip that flows into the active front air intakes on both sides. A roof-mounted LiDAR pod sits discreetly on the leading edge of the roofline.

At 4,956mm long, 1,981mm wide, 1,634mm tall with a 2,950mm wheelbase and a 0.219 drag coefficient, the R7 is aerodynamically optimized beyond most sports cars. Blacked-out wheels with red brake calipers and a smoked sport rear spoiler complete the performance aesthetic. 11 color options total, now including new Vitality Orange and Dark Night Purple.

Frunk: 52L of Front Storage

The BEV variants include a 52-liter front trunk with power-release and the signature “knock twice” gesture to open. The main rear boot is a massive 837 liters.

Chassis: Air Suspension + Double Wishbone — All Standard

Every R7 ships with the Huawei Tuling Platform, continuous variable damping air springs, front double-wishbone independent suspension, and rear five-link independent suspension. Active road preview, motion sickness relief 2.0, DATS torque control, and xMotion intelligent body coordination are all standard.

Why It Matters

A $35,800 SUV-coupe with 802km range, 36-sensor LiDAR ADAS, 21-speaker audio, zero-gravity seats, air suspension, and valet parking as standard. For reference, a BMW X5 xDrive40i starts at $68,600 in the US without LiDAR, without air suspension standard, and without zero-gravity seats. The Zhijie R7 is rewriting the definition of what a premium SUV can offer at this price point.
