XPENG’s L03 has begun first deliveries in China, according to Yiche, which reported that the first customer handovers took place on July 22. The same report said nationwide deliveries are scheduled to accelerate in August, and that the model is being sold in nine variants priced from RMB 123,800 to RMB 156,800.
That makes the L03 more than a launch announcement. It is now moving into the point where factory output, dealer handover timing and customer expectations all have to line up. For a new model in a crowded market, the transition from pre-sale traffic to actual deliveries is often the first real test of whether the car’s positioning is strong enough to hold interest beyond the launch window.
What XPENG says the L03 is
XPENG’s own product page describes the car as a “Next-Gen AI SUV Coupe.” The page emphasizes a coupe-like fastback silhouette, a low stance, a flowing roofline, frameless doors and flush side windows. In other words, XPENG is presenting the L03 as a crossover-style model that tries to combine aerodynamic efficiency with the more visual appeal of a coupe.
The official page also says the L03 is available with pure-electric and extended-range powertrain options and claims more than 1,000 kilometers of combined range. XPENG lists a drag coefficient of 0.228, which is consistent with the brand’s emphasis on efficiency and long-distance usability. For buyers who care about everyday practicality, the same page highlights a 102-liter front trunk, 539 liters of rear cargo space and a 1,500-kilogram braked towing capacity.
Packaging and cabin details
Beyond the drivetrain headline, XPENG is leaning on the sort of details that often matter in the family-car segment. The brand says the L03 offers 37 storage spaces, a 1.31 square-meter panoramic sunroof, rear-seat fold-flat flexibility and a wraparound cabin design. The interior pages also point to seat ventilation, seat heating and 14-point full-body massage, which suggests XPENG wants the car to compete not only on software and range but also on comfort and daily usability.
The visual identity matters too. The official page shows the L03 in a purple exterior finish and frames it as a sporty fastback with a clean, streamlined body. That gives the car a more lifestyle-focused presentation than a plain commuter EV, which may help explain why XPENG is trying to create a stronger emotional hook around the model at the start of deliveries.
Why the timing matters
For XPENG, first deliveries are the point where the story stops being about specifications and starts being about execution. The company now has to prove it can sustain handovers through August and turn early demand into a stable delivery rhythm. If it can do that, the L03 gives XPENG another foothold in the smart-EV crossover segment, where buyers increasingly compare range, packaging, software, and value in the same purchase decision.
Yiche’s reporting, combined with XPENG’s official product page, suggests the company is positioning the L03 as a mainstream smart-EV option rather than a niche halo car. That means the next few weeks will matter less for launch buzz and more for whether the car can settle into a consistent retail cadence.
