Mercedes-Benz will officially launch the new electric GLC in China on July 8. The model has already opened presales from US$51,338 (RMB 349,000), and it will be the first vehicle on Mercedes’MB.EA electric platform.
The electric GLC uses an 800V architecture, a dual-motor system rated at 310 kW and an 85.5-kWh battery. Autohome lists CLTC range at 680 km or 703 km depending on configuration.
What changed
The cabin is designed around a 39.1-inch seamless MBUX Hyperscreen-style display, a head-up display, optional five- and six-seat layouts, Burmester audio and comfort equipment such as heating, ventilation and massage.
Mercedes is also localizing the technology story for China with Momenta-assisted driving features, including traffic-light start/stop without navigation, automatic lane changes without navigation, full-scenario parking and reverse path tracing.
EV InnoTech take
The electric GLC is one of Mercedes’most important China EV launches because it sits in the brand’s global volume luxury-SUV lane. The specification reads competitive; the harder test will be whether the software, charging and ride comfort feel as polished as the badge requires.
