The third-generation BYD Yuan Plus is not just a light facelift, according to Autohome’s new hands-on drive. The compact electric SUV has grown in size and practicality while adding flash charging, Yun Nian-C chassis technology and limited-time benefits that include one year of free flash charging.

Autohome’s test car was a 2026 Yuan Plus 630 km Excellence model with BYD’s Tian Shen Zhi Yan B assisted-driving system. The review notes a cleaner, more mature exterior and a body shape that feels more upright and spacious than the previous generation.
What changed
Inside, BYD has toned down the older model’s more playful styling in favor of a simpler horizontal layout. Most trims use a 15.6-inch center screen and DiLink 100, with solid screen quality and smoothness, although the review still found room for improvement in third-party app handoff and ordering workflows.
The broader product shift is toward a more family-friendly electric crossover: more load capacity, stronger power, faster charging and a less aggressive cabin theme. That is important because the Yuan Plus competes in one of China’s most price-sensitive but feature-heavy EV segments.
EV InnoTech take
The new Yuan Plus looks like BYD refining a successful formula rather than reinventing it. Better charging and a calmer interior may matter more to daily buyers than headline acceleration or styling drama.
