Xpeng has shown the MONA L03 in production form, giving its lower-cost MONA line a compact SUV shaped around style, range choice and a younger buyer profile. The project is notable because the exterior design work was led by Juanma Lopez, formerly Ferrari’s head of exterior design, together with Xpeng’s global design team.

The L03 keeps Xpeng’s current family face, including slim Starship-style lighting and a cleaner front bumper. An active grille shutter is used to balance aerodynamic drag and electric-drive cooling demand. Xpeng has already shown a dark plum-like paint finish, with purple, gray, pink and silver also expected in the color range.

Compact SUV proportions

The side profile uses a fastback roofline, semi-hidden door handles, frameless windows and a concealed beltline treatment. The published dimensions are 4,650 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase. Xpeng is also quoting a 0.228 drag coefficient.

At the rear, the L03 uses a large curved backlight measuring about 1.1 square meters and a full-width light bar. The overall execution is meant to give the car a more premium stance than its expected price band would normally suggest, though final pricing has not yet been announced.

BEV and range-extended versions

The L03 is planned with both battery-electric and range-extended powertrains. The range-extended version uses a 1.5-liter generator rated at 70 kW and a single drive motor with 183 kW peak output. Filing information points to several WLTC electric-range versions, including 241 km, 249 km and 257 km.

The battery-electric model also uses a 183 kW drive motor and lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by CALB. Battery capacities are listed at 56 kWh and 69 kWh, with CLTC range figures spanning 505 km, 525 km, 530 km, 550 km, 605 km, 625 km, 630 km and 650 km depending on configuration.

EV InnoTech take

The important point is not only the Ferrari-adjacent design story. Xpeng is positioning the MONA L03 as a high-style, high-efficiency compact SUV with both BEV and EREV choices, which lets the brand address buyers who want an EV look but are still split on charging convenience. If the final cabin and price match the exterior ambition, this could become one of the more closely watched entries in China’s value-focused smart SUV segment.
