The race to turn EV cabins into mobile bedrooms is getting more serious. Autohome’s analysis looks at how automakers are marketing large reclining seats, flat-floor cabins and rest modes, while also asking where the safety limits are.
The trend is easy to understand. EVs have quiet cabins, large batteries and efficient climate systems, making them well suited to camping, waiting and resting scenarios.

But a “bedroom” setting can create risk if users misunderstand when the vehicle is stationary, how climate systems should be ventilated, or what happens if accessories and loose objects are used inside the cabin.
Why it matters
This matters because Chinese brands have turned cabin scenarios into a core selling point. As those features become more creative, safety communication has to become clearer as well.

Comfort innovation is valuable, but automakers need to make sure rest-mode marketing does not outrun practical safety guidance.
