Electric BMW M3 Could Top 1,000 kW with Four-Motor M eDrive System

BMW’s electric M3 is shaping up as a serious technology statement. Autohome reports that the pure-electric M3 is expected to start production in March 2027 with one initial version and a four-motor M eDrive system.

The reported setup includes up to 480 kW at the front axle and 560 kW at the rear axle, with combined output potentially exceeding 1,000 kW.

The car is also expected to use a battery larger than 100 kWh, an 800V platform, sixth-generation cylindrical cells and a structural battery housing tied into the axles for added rigidity.

Why it matters

This is the kind of EV that can change enthusiast expectations. Instead of using electrification only for efficiency, BMW is building software-controlled torque response, high-voltage charging and chassis integration into the M story.
