IM Motors is preparing a high-performance version of its large six-seat SUV. Autohome reports that the IM LS9 Hyper will officially launch on July 16 as a 300,000-yuan-class premium six-seat SUV.
The Hyper version adds distinctive badging and a more advanced chassis and powertrain setup compared with the regular LS9. The SUV measures 5,279 mm long with a 3,160 mm wheelbase and a 2+2+2 seating layout.
Its headline hardware includes steer-by-wire and SAIC’s first production three-motor vector all-wheel-drive system, with MIIT filing data listing drive motors rated at 160 kW, 160 kW and 230 kW.
For international readers, that China-market figure converts to approximately $44,247 (RMB 300,000) at today’s approximate exchange rate.
Why it matters
Large Chinese EV SUVs are moving beyond screens and refrigerators into chassis technology. Steer-by-wire and torque-vectoring claims are becoming part of the premium-family pitch.
