Leapmotor’s largest and most technologically advanced vehicle to date, the Leapmotor D19, will officially launch on April 16, 2026. Blind orders are already open at ¥999 ($138 USD) deposit. Expected pricing: ¥250,000–¥300,000 (approx. $34,500–$41,400 USD). The D19 is available in both pure electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) variants — a rare dual-powertrain option for a large SUV.

Exterior Design: Star-Ring Light Signature

The D19 features Leapmotor’s family design language with a star-ring continuous light bar connecting split headlights at the front — a highly distinctive visual identity. The rear mirrors this with a full-width continuous tail light. Five color options: Pine Valley Green, Liquid Silver, Metallic Black, Skylight Grey, and Photoelectric White.

Dimensions: 5,252mm long, 1,995mm wide, 1,800mm tall, with a 3,110mm wheelbase. The BEV version includes a front trunk (frunk) — reflected in the different hood line versus the EREV variant.

Interior: 60-Inch AR-HUD, 21.4-Inch Rear Screen

The D19’s tech stack is extraordinary for its price point. The screen ecosystem includes:

  • 60-inch all-weather AR-HUD — the widest in any production vehicle
  • 17.3-inch central touchscreen (floating design)
  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 21.4-inch 3K motorized rear entertainment screen
  • 6-inch rear multi-function control panel

Luxury touches include: onboard oxygen generator, dual foldable rear tray tables, a full electric car-grade refrigerator (8.1L, -6°C to 50°C), intelligent fragrance system with 3 custom scents and 3 intensity levels, and B-pillar grab handles. Seating configurations: 5, 6, or 7 seats.

ADAS: Sensory System Camera Integrated into Door Handles

One of the most striking design details on the D19 is the integrated “Sensory System” camera built into the door handle. The flush-mounted camera provides 360° surround view coverage while maintaining the clean exterior lines — no protruding camera pods anywhere on the body.

Powertrain: 1000V BEV vs EREV Options

Pure Electric (BEV):

  • 1000V ultra-high voltage platform
  • CATL latest mixed-cell battery: 115kWh
  • CLTC range: 720km
  • Motor options: 180kW or 230kW
  • Triple-motor variant: 3×180kW = 540kW combined

Extended Range (EREV):

  • 1.5T range extender (95kW, from Aurora Bay Technology)
  • 80.3kWh battery pack
  • CLTC pure EV range: 500km
  • 40L fuel tank with dual-motor AWD
  • Triple-motor EREV variant: front 100kW + dual rear 150kW each

Why This Is a Big Deal

A large 7-seat SUV with a 60-inch AR-HUD, 21.4-inch rear screen, onboard oxygen generator, built-in fridge, and 1000V fast charging with 720km range — all starting at approximately $34,500 USD. For comparison, a similarly-sized BMW X7 or Mercedes GLS starts at $90,000+. The technology and space gap between Chinese and Western luxury SUVs is closing rapidly, with Chinese brands now leading on smart features and value.
