Audi is preparing to stretch its SUV flagship story above the familiar Q7/Q8 space. Autohome reports that the Audi Q9 family will be officially revealed on July 29, including standard Q9, SQ9 and Q9 Horch versions.
The Horch prototype appears to use a unique vertical-bar grille, two-tone paint and more formal exterior details, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 expected under the hood.
Audi has already previewed the Q9 cabin with a multi-screen front layout, including an instrument display, large central screen and front passenger display.
Why it matters
Even in an EV-focused market, large luxury combustion SUVs still matter because they set brand tone and margins. The challenge is making them feel modern when Chinese buyers increasingly compare cabins and software against new-energy flagships.
Q9 Horch is Audi’s answer to ultra-luxury SUV demand, but its software and cockpit execution will be judged against China’s fast-moving smart-SUV field.
