What changed
Both vehicles use a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor rated at 145 kW and a 22-kWh battery. The Magotan PHEV is rated at 127 km of CLTC electric range and 1,503 km of combined range.
The Tayron L PHEV offers 143-145 km of CLTC electric range depending on trim and up to 1,430 km combined range. Equipment includes a 10.3-inch instrument display, 15-inch center screen, Snapdragon 8155 cockpit chip and available assisted-driving upgrades.
EV InnoTech take
Volkswagen’s China joint ventures are no longer competing only with other global brands. These PHEVs must also answer domestic rivals that have made long electric range, large screens and aggressive pricing normal in the mainstream segment.
