BYD is moving the Qin PLUS DM-i deeper into the smart, electrified sedan fight. Autohome reports that the new Qin PLUS DM-i filing appeared on China’s MIIT website on July 10, showing upgrades in exterior design, size and intelligent-driving hardware.
The sedan now measures 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,498 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. The filing also lists optional roof-mounted LiDAR, which would bring more advanced driver-assistance hardware into a high-volume BYD sedan.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid system with a 74 kW gasoline engine and a 120 kW permanent-magnet drive motor. Two lithium iron phosphate packs are listed at 16.227 kWh and 24.337 kWh, supporting 107 km and 160 km of electric range.
Why it matters
The Qin family is one of BYD’s most important mass-market nameplates, so adding smarter hardware here would push advanced features into a price-sensitive segment.
The new Qin PLUS DM-i filing suggests BYD is preparing to make LiDAR and longer plug-in hybrid range more normal in mainstream sedans.
