Stelato G9 Wins Beijing L3 Test Permit Ahead of Expected August Launch

Stelato is using regulatory approval to raise expectations for its large SUV before launch. Autohome reports that the Stelato G9 has received Beijing L3 autonomous-driving road-test permission and is expected to launch in the third quarter, likely in August.

The permit covers high-speed road testing up to 120 km/h. The system uses a multi-sensor approach including LiDAR, cameras and millimeter-wave radar, with safety, cybersecurity and data-management validation.

The G9 has completed MIIT filing and will offer both range-extended and pure-electric versions on an 800V high-voltage platform. Dimensions are listed at 5,377 mm long with a 3,160 mm wheelbase.

Why it matters

In China, L3 testing approval is becoming a credibility marker for smart EVs. It does not make the car fully self-driving, but it signals that the model is entering a stricter validation lane.
