Toyota Avalon Filing Reveals Crown-Inspired Face and Hybrid Efficiency Updates

Toyota is refreshing the Avalon with a more formal face and continued hybrid emphasis. Autohome reports that new filing information from China’s regulator shows the updated Toyota Avalon with changed exterior details and both gasoline and HEV hybrid powertrains.

The gasoline model adopts a front design reminiscent of the latest Crown, including a larger grille and C-shaped lighting. The rear also moves to a full-width lamp treatment with split internal light elements.

The hybrid version receives its own wheel, badge, grille, lighting and bumper changes. Depending on tire and weight configuration, declared fuel consumption is 4.36 to 4.57 L/100 km.

Why it matters

Toyota’s hybrid strength still matters in China because not every buyer is ready to go fully electric, and efficient HEVs can offer a lower-risk bridge for traditional sedan customers.

Hybrid versions list fuel consumption as low as 4.36 L/100 km.

The Avalon update is a conservative but useful reminder that hybrid sedans remain part of China’s electrified transition, not a separate story from it.
