Volkswagen is giving its next China EV a much more local technology brief. Autohome reports that the ID. AURA T6 interior has been shown after the exterior appeared at the 2026 Beijing auto show.
The five-seat electric midsize SUV is expected to launch in the second half of the year. Autohome notes that the model has already appeared in MIIT filing data and is planned with LiDAR hardware and Volkswagen Anhui’s CEA electronic architecture.

The cabin preview matters because Chinese EV shoppers now judge foreign-brand products by screens, assisted-driving hardware and software feel as much as by traditional build quality.
Why it matters
Volkswagen needs more than another global EV badge in China. A local architecture and sensor-forward positioning are signals that the company understands how quickly buyer expectations have moved.

The ID. AURA T6 is shaping up as a test of whether Volkswagen can make a China-focused EV feel genuinely current.
